QuickBooks Online (QBO) is the most widely used cloud accounting platform for small and mid-sized businesses. TallyArc's QBO integration creates a two-platform setup that many growing businesses find ideal: TallyArc handles the client-facing invoicing and payment experience, while QuickBooks manages the general ledger, bank reconciliation, and tax reporting. Data flows automatically between them — no manual re-entry required.
What syncs between TallyArc and QuickBooks
- Customers — QBO customers import into TallyArc as clients; new clients can push back to QBO
- Invoices — invoices created in TallyArc create corresponding QBO invoices in the AR account
- Payments — payments received through TallyArc's portal automatically create payment records in QBO and mark the QBO invoice as paid
- Products and services — QBO items import to TallyArc for consistent line item naming and GL coding
- Tax rates — tax codes from QBO are available in TallyArc so sales tax is applied consistently
OAuth connection setup
TallyArc connects to QBO via Intuit's OAuth 2.0 — no API keys to manage:
- In TallyArc, go to ERP → QuickBooks Online → Connect
- Click Connect to QuickBooks — you'll be redirected to Intuit's login page
- Sign in with your QBO credentials and authorise TallyArc
- You'll be returned to TallyArc with the connection active
- Configure your income account mappings and save
Income account mapping
Map each TallyArc invoice category to a QBO income account. For example:
- Consulting services → Professional Services Revenue
- Software licences → Software Revenue
- Expenses reimbursed → Reimbursed Expenses (pass-through)
This ensures every invoice that posts from TallyArc hits the right QBO account automatically.
Keeping the sync healthy
- QBO OAuth tokens expire every 100 days — TallyArc will alert you when reconnection is needed
- Don't edit TallyArc-originated invoices directly in QBO — changes won't sync back and will create discrepancies
- If you refund a payment in TallyArc, a corresponding QBO credit memo is created automatically
